Organized by Kindred Credit Union Centre for Peace Advancement

Loops That Hold Us is a dialogue about fibre, harm reduction, and community.

Explore a curated collection of 37 pieces that were hand-hooked by members of the Kitchener-Waterloo Rug Hooking Guild (KWRHG) to represent the artwork of Samuel Wiebe (1985 - 2024). These works were created in 2026 to honour his legacy, to bring attention to the epidemic issues in Canada related to mental health, homelessness, and harm reduction, and to support Sanguen Health Centre, whose staff are on the front lines in Waterloo Region and Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph.

Each piece is accompanied by an artist statement that also shows the original line drawing that inspired it from Lines That Hold Us, a colouring book created in memory of Wiebe that features his original artwork. All proceeds from sales of this book support Sanguen's Community Van programs, helping provide outreach, harm reduction, and health services to community members in need.

Thank you to the dedicated members of KWRHG for creating the incredible works on display. Thank you to Susan Sutherland for curating the exhibit, Lynn Bergsma-Friesen for photographing the works, and Julie Kalbfleisch for coordinating with Sanguine Health Centre.
